Hello! My name is Alison. I’ve been passionate about country music since I was very young. I got to know music by following styles – rock, southern rock and the country music styles of today – and by cruising through the USA. I’ve also bought a lot of CDs! In recent years, I started broadcasting the “Les News de Nashville” on the Big Cactus Country presented by my friend Johnny Da Piedade. You can read my blog post on the Big Cactus Country site as well as here on the HorizonVU Music Blog and SHOP!

The last weekend, Team News Nashville made its appearance at the 27th edition of the Country Rendez-Vous Festival Craponne on Arzon in Haute Loire. Despite a slightly capricious weather, we enjoyed the stunning live performances of the 15 groups present at the event which came off without a hook.

Thanks to the highly professional audio, video, lighting from the Country Rendez-Vous Festival organization team. Like every year, and for 17 years, Johnny Da Piedade, the host of the Big Cactus Country was on the scene, and always faithful to the his appointment prsenting all the artists of this mega event! I suggest to you a list of our favorite artists closest to our heart. Roving Seats opened the festivities. This excellent French group consisting of talented artists found its leader Manuel Julvez on guitar and vocals. The charismatic Geoffrey Chaurand was on guitar and harmonica along with Ange Amadei. As expected, the group Blue Highway Bluegrass captivated the public.

In the same spirit, but in a more traditional style, the oldest European Bluegrass group, who opened the first edition of the Festival Country RDV 26 years ago: Red Wine group from Italy which also had a huge success! Setting fire to the Craponne scene was American Southern rock band Skinny Molly, whose lead singer, Mike Estes is a former member of the legendary band Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Jerry Kilgore

Jerry Kilgore

The songwriter and performer from Oregon, Jerry Kilgore is a specialist in Honky Tonk and he was a huge hit with fans of the genre. He superbly performed conventional songs such as the legendary George Jones hit “He Stopped Loving Her Today”. One of the discoveries in 2014, William Clark Green, is currently number 1 in the Texas Music Charts in the U.S. He offered a superb Americana tinged concert with rock roots and he was followed by another very nice surprise of talented musicians, including an amazing manic guitarist and member of the original group from Lubbock Texas, Hogg Maulies! What show! Another phenomenal success with the public.

The Whiskey Sisters duo was also a big hit at the Country Rendez Vous with their vibrant country style rock! The last day of the festival was opened by the Acoustic Fivewith pop rock hits and even a Country disco version tainted with Bluegrass. The Texas House Of Martha And The Twang also attracted fans of the genres Honky Tonk and Traditional Country.

Then it came time to applaud the great headlining the festival in 2014 with the very talented and friendly Darryl Worley. Darryl gave us a great show in all respects with his beautiful voice, in sunny Craponne giving you goosebumps! Darryl had two encores without restraint from the public. A huge success!

As usual, it’s a Cajun group that closed the festival. This year dynamic Sarah Savoy literally burned the stage with her show “Cajun Country” authentic and enraged. Sarah was accompanied by her musicians, but also in the presence of her family with her husband on guitar and vocals and her young daughter on the triangle. To complete the festival, all the artists are came on stage to interpret the inevitable “Jambalaya” by Hank Williams!

Sarah Savoy, raging accordion musicians in the presence of Darryl Worley, the Roving Seats, Texas Martha, and the mega star Darryl Worley noteably joined by daughter Sarah on washboard created a crazy atmosphere prevailing throughout the music from Louisiana. A visibly happy audience remained numerous until the last note! The 28th edition of the festival for 2015 will be, as usual, the last weekend of the month of July. Rendez Vous!
