Hello! My name is Alison. I’ve been passionate about country music since I was very young. I got to know music by following styles – rock, southern rock and the country music styles of today – and by cruising through the USA. I’ve also bought a lot of CDs! In recent years, I started broadcasting the “Les News de Nashville” on the Big Cactus Country presented by my friend Johnny Da Piedade. You can read my blog post on the Big Cactus Country site as well as here on the HorizonVU Music Blog and SHOP!

Big Cactus Country Radio Show!!! The best of American Country presented by Johnny Da Piedade and Alison Hebert! The BCC is a syndicated radio Show presented by Johnny Da Piedade and Alison Hebert broadcast weekly more than 250 times. The BCC network is 120 affiliated radio stations in France, Reunion Island, St-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Belgium, Switzerland, Quebec and more.

Team News from Nashville has just returned from the second edition of the festival in Santa Susanna Spain, that occurred 5 – 11 October at the Hotel AquaMarina located 50 kilometers from Barcelona, along the Costa d ‘El Maresme.

One thing is certain, the Santa Susanna festival was very well thought out and organized, thanks to Mr. Bernard Blanot, President of “South Lattitude Sport”. He was smiling because this year the festival doubled its attendance over last year last from 300 to more than 700 people.

The program was promoted all summer on the network of over 120 radio partners and Big Cactus Country certainly contributed to the success!

I must say that the 2013 musical program was very attractive and the concept of the festival as upscale well received. The country festival was five stars, with its “all inclusive” formula including all the amenities and services with a broad Spanish smile, not to mention live music every night in a tent specially designed for the purpose and much more. Throughout the six-days, courses were offered for country dancing and there was a show of the Country French artist Pierre Lorry every lunchtime. Every evening there was a different concert waiting for us. A top level was achieved under the supervision of talented guitarist and singer Mister Jay,the head of the music program.

So to start the week on Saturday night, it was the Swiss Honky Tonk Farmers and Pierre Lorry. Monday, in was the “Music Road Pilots” a dutch group, four voices and outstanding musicians with hits from the playlists of Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts and Vince Gill with the same interpretations!

On Sunday night, it was the very talented Mariotti Brothers, with Laurent Philippe accompanied their father, Jean Pierre, putting on a great show in front of a raging public!

Monday, in was the “Music Road Pilots” a dutch group, four voices and outstanding musicians with hits from the playlists of Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts and Vince Gill with the same interpretations! Beautiful. Tuesday night was 100% left up to the Line Dancers group “Backwest, ‘Los Gringos and The Cowgirl’ ” who performed as the dance floor was literally invaded earning them two encores.

The Australian Wayne Law caused a sensation on Wednesday night with a concert of 100% pure country music, a real treat for the ears and loved by all.

And finally, the Texan singer and violinist John Permenter, closed the festival in style on Thursday night propelling us into a honky tonk bar in the Lone Star State once again with a country music show 100% George Strait. The results were very positive, the public was satisfied and the challenge met . Everyone left with a smile. A third edition is already in the making and scheduled for 2014 with plans for 1000 attendees.

26, 27, 28 July marked the Craponne Festival at Craponne sur Arzon. This great festival hosted a very interesting range of artists from Texas, California, Florida, Louisiana, Italy, United Kingdom and France!

All musical styles were represented – Bluegrass, Cajun, Americana, Southern Rock, Rockabilly, Swing, New Country, Triple X -Traditional Country or not.

In short, something for everyone! Despite somewhat capricious weather with a few showers here and there on Saturday night and Sunday, the faithful festival audience responded. Blandine Pelin, the new president for the past two years, has again called on Johnny Da Piedade, the producer and host of the Big Cactus Country who had the pleasure to present this major event for the 16th consecutive year!

The festival started with The Swing Commanders British band. Some of you may have seen the poster of the festival’s American Journey in 2011. Their dynamic hyper show immediately captured the Craponne public especially with the arrival on stage of a couple dancing Jive Rock’n’Roll. Not very young, but they set fire to the stage.

For fans of bluegrass music was nirvana! First, with the incredible performance of the famous Audie Blaylock and his musicians with great talent!

Frank Solivan and The Dirty Kitchen

And same goes with Frank Solivan and The Dirty Kitchen leaving the audience speechless with their Bluegrass at a very high level. Well, then there was the discovery of the Festival. More like rocking Country with John David Kent and his powerful show, Sam Riggs and Night People’s New Country was a real surprise of the festival with a warm and modern repertoire.

The great Italian artists, the Starliters group, gave us their authentic Hillbilly & Rockabilly touch. And it did fly. Cajun female trio Whiskey & Women rather accustomed bar environments captivated the audience.

On the French side, Mister Jay and his band caused a sensation with a superb performance worthy of a Brad Paisley made in France! Ditto for Norfolk AC, aka Cyril Amblard, a native of Clermont Ferrand. His performance gave us a concert tinged Americana sound, complete with covers of his idol, Bruce Springsteen, including the famous “Born In The USA”.

The Ambassador of true Country music, appeared dressed as George Strait. His name is Will Banister and his powerful voice, gave us a style almost identical to that of a “Merle Haggard” “Alan Jackson” or “George Jones” – total triumph for Will Banister intonations!

A little Mexican warmth and femininity came with singer Tex Mex Stephanie Urbina Jones who was also really liked. The madmen and Cajuns, The Pine Leaf Boys, are not about to forget their Festival closing, so the public was asked to rehearse with reminders.

In recent years, the Craponne Festival has provided a show with Southern Rock-like bad boys. This year the proud representatives of southern Rock Country was the quartet The Pear Ratz!

A big sound from its former singers of a metal band, they mixed good Texas Southern Rock and pure country music with many sounds likening to Waylon Jennings. But then all groups were good, I hear you say? Yes, very good. There was the excellent JB and The Moonshine Band, a group of Texas musicians with kindness and friendliness equal to their technical level. They interpreted all their greatest hits including the excellent No. 1 of the Texas Music Charts “The Only Drug”!

The show from JB and his band, is certainly one of the two best concerts of this mega festival, with the Maverick course. I will not forget the headliner, everyone looked forward to – The Mavericks. They made their entrance as a group of rock stars! But the result was more than perfect in every way. Their show was very tailored and included all very festive classics including many titles from the last great album for the delight of the public! A concert to meet expectations in the tradition of what the festival is – great Country.

The organizers, elated by the success of this 2013 edition, are planning to get some sleep now and see you next year for the 27th edition to be held on 25, 26 and 27 July 2014!
