Mid July and I’m just getting my Email out to y’all. It’s been a busy month but mostly I’ve been recording and preparing for that. Had a GREAT few days in the studio with the world’s best band, making the next record (as of yet unnamed). It won’t be released until March 2014, but stay tuned here for news soon next month of the impending Kickstarter campaign which will give everyone a chance to get involved and get the record WAY before anyone else does. I can say with confidence that this is the best record I’ve made so far. Neilson Hubbard is producing again and this time playing drums. Will Kimbrough and Carl Broemel (of My Morning Jacket) on guitars/pedal steel. Dean Marold (of Farewell Drifters) on upright bass. Danny Mitchell on keys and Eamon McLouglin on fiddle. Guest singers Garrison Starr and John Moreland, Tim Easton, Rod Picott, Doug & Telisha Williams, Ben Glover. I can’t wait…

This weekend I head to The Swannanoa Gathering to teach at The Contemporary Folk Week with Jim Lauderdale, Jon Vezner, Don Henry, Kathy Mattea. I’m so excited (and a bit nervous). Then the following week I’ll be heading to Colorado for a few dates with Mary Gauthier and to teach at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Song School for the 11th year. Wow.

There’s some House Concert opportunities to the left I’d love to come play for you while I’m in your neighborhood. If you’ve got room for at least 25-30 people (more if possible) and want to partner with me to host a concert in your living room, let me know and I can walk you through how easy it is.

In the meantime, stay cool and safe and take good care of each other out there.

APRIL FOOLERY

I know…I know…it’s almost the end of the month and I’m finally letting you know where I’m going, but I’ve been bit distracted writing and stockpiling songs, writing with Neilson Hubbard, Ben Glover, Mary Gauthier, Tim Easton, Ryan Culwell, Beth Nielsen Chapman. Looking forward to getting these songs out to the world.

So much stuff but first, and most importantly, all tourdates are to the left and full details to be found at TOURPAGE so always check in there. I’m headed to TEXAS later this week for a week of shows. Before I do that, I need new tires on this van! And if anyone’s interested in trading their Prius for a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with 200,000 miles but a lot of love, I’d love to talk (wishful thinking)…

T SHIRT SALE: There’s a sale going on over at my webstore on T Shirts so get over there while they’re hot. They won’t last. We’re on our last batch…

NEW RECORD: It’s starting! I’m stockpiling songs and will be headed back to the studio in June (in Memphis) and July (in Nashville) to start the next record, again produced by the fabulous Neilson Hubbard, which will be released in March 2015. For my Stormy Boat Kickstarter family, I’ll be starting a Kickstarter campaign this summer to re-enlist the team for the next one. We’ll have it recorded by August but we’re holding off on releasing it till next year to make sure we get the rest of the details right all at once (press/radio/tour/European release/video/vinyl! etc.) and I would love it if everyone would even just pre-order the release. I’ll keep y’all updated.

SUMMER PLANS/TEACHING: So much coming up…I’ll be touring with Tim Easton in June and going to Woodyfest in July. I’ve got a few festivals this summer to play and a few I’ll be teaching at. I’ll be returning to Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Song School to teach performance and headed to The Swannanoa Gathering for the first time to teach performance and songwriting.

As always, if you are interested in hosting a house concert, please email me at amy@amyspeace.com and we can talk about it!

APRIL FOOLERY

Spring is here…spring is here…spring is here! March has been chilly and productive – mostly I’ve been writing, stockpiling songs, writing with Neilson Hubbard, Ben Glover, Mary Gauthier, Beth Nielsen Chapman. Looking forward to getting these songs out to the world. I had a great time last night playing at Tin Pan South, an annual festival of songwriters by NSAI here in Nashville. Got to swap songs with some friends – Ryan Tanner, Neilson and Amber Rubarth. Tonight I may head out to a neighborhood hang to hear Tommy Womack. I love Nashville.
I won’t bore you with too much this month, just the quick facts, so you can get back outside with your dogs, in your gardens, with your spring crush, etc.

TOUR: I’m headed to the Northeast in a few days. Then at the end of the month I’ll be back to Texas. All tourdates are to the left. More details to be found at TOURPAGE

NEW RECORD: It’s starting. I’m stockpiling songs and will be headed back to the studio in June (in Memphis) and July (in Nashville) to start the next record, which will be released in March 2015. I’ll be posting information on all that soon.

SUMMER PLANS/TEACHING: So much coming up…I’ll be touring with Tim Easton in June, taking July off to record. I’ve got a few festivals this summer to play and a few I’ll be teaching at. I’ll be returning to Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Song School to teach performance and headed to The Swannanoa Gatheringfor the first time to teach performance and songwriting.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

So much stuff going on this month I’m very excited to share with you. First of all, I hit the road this week with my yearly Holiday Show, now in it’s 4th year, called DECEMBERSONGS. This year, we bring you the East Nashville version, starring Rod Picott, Doug & Telisha Williams (now known as Wild Ponies) and myself. Our tour begins on Friday in Ashland, VA and winds its way north and midwest, landing at The Bluebird Cafe on Dec. 18, then down to Georgia and North Carolina and ending up at a lovely house concert in Columbia, TN. We have a brand spanking new CD for you to purchase as well (here at ITUNES TOO!!), produced by Neilson Hubbard and recorded on one fine summer day. It includes 3 holiday favorites (“I’ll Be Home For Christmas” etc.) and 3 originals including Rod’s soon-to-be-classic “Dad’s Drunk Again On Christmas”. A definite stocking stuffer (and our apologies to our non-Christmas celebrating friends, but we couldn’t find a good Hannukah or Kwanzaa song to record this time around).

Also, I’m proud to be a part of a new release called Nashville Indie Spotlight which releases tomorrow Dec. 3rd on ITunes. It includes unreleased tracks by other indie Nashvillians, including Peter Bradley Adams, Katie Herzig, Ruby Amanfu, Angel Snow, Matthew Perryman Jones, Butterfly Boucher and more. My solo version of “The Sea & The Shore” is on there. Look for more info as I get it on my website home page.

Lastly, a holiday special for you. All CD’s and T Shirts bought directly from me are at a 20% discount through the month of December (check out the mercy at my website merch page). That means, “How To Sleep In a Stormy Boat” which is usually $25 is now $20. Shipping domestic is $3 for 1 CD, and adjusts with each order depending on weight. International CD shipping will depend on where it’s going so I’ll email you with that cost. But let me know ASAP by emailing me directly here with HOLIDAY SPECIAL in the subject line. Note: This special is NOT available if you order through the website store. Only direct! I’ll even sign them if you’d like!

What’s up in January? Well, a European tour of my own, that’s what…stay tuned. And be good, boys and girls…

xoxo

What’s The Buzz ?

Hi everyone!
Do you have Olympic fever like I have Olympic fever? Maybe it’s because I just returned from London after a monthlong tour of the UK, where that city was abuzz with excitement. It was amazing to see, and I got to drive past Olympic Park a few times and saw that gorgeous Velodrome. I’ll be rekindling my childhood love of gymnastics (I was a huge Nadia Comenechi and Mary Lou Retton fan, despite my inability to ever land a back handspring), watching the track and field and biking and tennis and probably forcing myself to go out and try for a personal best in my own runs and bike rides. I was never a great athlete, but I do harbor those fantasies…

The tour with Alejandro Escovedo & The Sensitive Boys of the UK was amazing. Alejandro invited me to sing a duet with him on the Spanish “Sabor a Mi” and I joined the band for the encores. I so enjoyed playing all over the UK. And I had a great time at the festivals and playing on the BBC. I wrote about the tour at my blog, INNERSPEACE. Come take a peek.

So, despite the fact that “Land Like A Bird” was JUST released over there, making it feel brand new, my focus now is all about the NEW RECORD, tentatively called “How To Sleep In A Stormy Boat” (a song I co-wrote with the wonderful Sally Barris). Yes, that’s right. I’ll have a new record ready for you in the Spring of 2013. I’ll be recording it in October here in East Nashville with Neilson Hubbard again. It’s still in the initial stages but it will include the song “The Sea and The Shore” that I’ve been playing in shows lately. We’re very excited about the songs and the players and the whole idea of it all and I can’t wait to share it with you, but I wanted to let you know to stay tuned to all emails you get from me coming up, because very very soon, I’ll be asking YOU to be an integral part of the making of this record. I will be putting it out with the wonderful record label, Thirty Tigers, but this time, I’m going to be financing it on my own so that I can own my own work. Important stuff these days. But I cannot do it alone. Many many artists are turning to fan-funding, from complete indies to name-recognizable artists. I will join them as I will be announcing a KICKSTARTER campaign beginning sometime end of August, beginning of September. Records take money. I hate to be blunt. But they do. My budget for Kickstarter will include RECORDING, PROMOTION & TOUR SUPPORT. You will get something for your contribution. So, please, look to the next few emails I’ll be sending out and I’ll be asking for your help, not just in contributing as much (or as little) as you can (from pre-ordering to being a big donor), but also in spreading the word by passing my Kickstarter campaign along to your friends. Every little bit will help. This journey as an artist is so dependent upon you: without you in the audience, there’s no need for me to be onstage. Without you buying my CD… etc. So this time, I’d love to invite you to really partner with me. So, for right now, all I’m asking is if you are not connecting with me on FACEBOOK or TWITTER, follow those links and let’s get connected, because you’ll be able to share the video (once I make it) with your friends and that’s what we call viral….

In the meantime….
The upcoming tour… I am looking for a few very last minute fill ins for anyone willing to host a house concert. If you are, please email me directly at amy@amyspeace.com with HOUSE CONCERT in the heading.

With so much gratitude,
Amy
