This week I present a female duo making for serious talk. This is Madisson Marlow from the city of Santa Fe, Texas and Taylor Dye who comes straight from the town of Ada, Oklahoma. They are known today as Maddie & Tae . These two childhood friends have always loved country music, especially the Dixie Chicks. One day Tae wrote a song to encourage Maddie to leave school and go to the music city, Nashville, to devote herself entirely to music.

The dream became reality in 2013. Maddie & Tae landed in Nashville and knocked on the door of one of the biggest labels in Nashville: Big Machine Records. Seeing their talent and potential of their live performance, the big boss of the label, Scott Borchetta offered them a deal to sign on ” Dot Records” a sub label Big Machine . In July 2014, they finally arrived on-air radio with the title “Girl In A Country Song” co-written by the excellent songwiter Aaron Sherz and produced by guitarist Dan Huff! Meanwhile, the single was played and replayed on the country rado at the national level.

Now, Maddie & Tae are number 1 on the mediabase charts with their first single “Girl In A Country Song”. This song sounds very “Bro -Country” an abbreviated form of “Brother Country “,a new term which means in essence :” Country mix of instruments such as mandolin or banjo and singing to the sounds of Hip Hop”. To give you a concrete example go to Florida Georgia Line! Anyway, it’s unfortunate to say, but now the US hears more of that Hip Hop flavor country or ” Country Bro ” text. Some some songs are country-inspired instrumentation and rhythm-the sound is Pop/Hip Hop . The Maddie & Tae single is taken from their self-titled debut album released on 4 November. So are you more or country Bro Country ?

The vocal quartet Little Big Town, no doesn’t in its crazy and unbelievable rise to the heights of glory. They are once again in first place of mediabase ranking No. 1 hit country in the USA. .. and Canada with the single “Day Drinkin’ “. This is the first single from their sixth studio album “Pain Killer” which is certainly the most Pop of all. In any case, even if they abandoned the Country Music Crossover, their group continuesto climb at all the levels! I remind you that this year, Litte Big Town again won the award for Best Group of the Year at the 48th CMA Awards.

It all started in this beautiful red building, a former church made of wood, which is now the emblem of true traditional Country Music. In 1925, George D. Hay broadcast over a radio station, WSM. Soon he was joined by violinist Jimmy Thompson and together they launched a show called “WSM Barn Dance”. With the tag “We dance in the barn” the program was broadcast live. The show aired on the “WSM” radio.

On October 2, 1954, the young Elvis Presley made his first and only appearance. WSM which still exists today, was the first country radio station to broadcast its programs over AM. with its powerful 50,000-watt transmitter, emissions could be heard almost anywhere in the USA and beyond; north to Canada and south to Mexico. The Grand Ole Opry Show has become an institution and many large names in music have been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

A victim of its huge success, in 1974, the Grand Opry show left the legendary Ryman Auditorium and moved to a larger and more modern the Grand Ole Opry House located outside the city center. But in the aftermath of major floods that severely hit Nashville in May 2010, the Grand Ole Opry House was completely submerged by water. It is thanks to this natural disaster, the Ryman Auditorium came back to life again as the Grand Ole Opry. Now renovated, the legendary venue and exceptional show is waiting for you! So if you go to Nashville soon, make reservations at the Grand Ole Opry! Note the dates of October 10 and 11 for the 89th anniversary!

Team News Nashville visited Switzerland last weekend during the 26th edition of the Country Night Gstaad!

The festival was packed with an audience ccoming from all over Europe, attracted by a beautiful poster, the choice of the organizer Marcel Bach, who has put together a program “High Color” in the terms of the American artistic artistic plateau.

THe night featured one of the masters of bluegrass music, Ricky Skaggs, singer Kellie Pickler and the talented Josh Turner. Accompanied by top musicians Mister Ricky Skaggs offered us, as usual, an excellent performance, drawing here and there on the register of classic Traditional Bluegrass withthe inevitable “Uncle Pen” or taking from the Country 80s with some major hits like “Heartbroke” and “Highway 40 Blues.” Ricky Skaggs has announced that he will release a new album entitled “Hearts Like Ours” to be released September 30. Kellie Pickler brought a a very mice surprise!

Kellie sang his hits interpreted as New Country, but she also performed the true traditional country music with good times from the repertoire of her idols like Tammy Wynette. She perfectly imitated the voice of the title Tammy on “Stand By Your Man.”

Kellie ignited the audience with a great version of the famous very rock’n’roll tinged title of the legendary George Jones “White Lightning,” . She also performed covers of Loretta Lynn, Pam Tillis (“Someone somewere Tonight”) and finally, a cover of the legendary Patsy Cline and “Crazy” sung “a cappella,” which was not an easy task ! A very moving show with anecdotes that Kellie Pickler told us throughout the concert. Above all the audience was pleasantly surprised by the talent of excellent musicians and the undeniable vocal power of Kellie Pickler, very impressive!

Then finally came the highly anticipated artist Josh Turner, the top of the poster for the 2014 Country Night. Josh Turner also gave a superb, extremely well-rehearsed performance, including “American” and numerous music videos. The performance was impeccable, so perfect it was like listening to a CD.

We were fortunate to discover a preview of the new single which arrives this week on American radio waves but also on iTunes, entitled “Lay Low,” a title that will appear on a new album, but we still do not know the name and release date. Josh Turner has not lost his way, but for a while he became commercial reminding us repeatedly of the address of his website www.joshtuner.com,

mentioning the name of its sponsor “Ariat” which is just another brand of boots and not to forget the release of his first book “Man Stuff” In short, the pure direct sales Live! As you can see, the 27th edition of the Country Night Gstaad was a real success!

For those who do not know Josh Turner, he is known for his dazzling vocal potential, perfect baritone and hits “Long Black Train,” “Would You Go With me “or the “Why Do not We Just Dance” song “! Recently, the musical career of Josh has been very quiet because in recent months he has focused on writing, telling his personal, and of course, his artistic life. The last weekend, Team News Nashville made its appearance at the 27th edition of the Country Rendez-Vous Festival Craponne on Arzon in Haute Loire. Despite a slightly capricious weather, we enjoyed the stunning live performances of the 15 groups present at the event which came off without a hook.

Thanks to the highly professional audio, video, lighting from the Country Rendez-Vous Festival organization team. Like every year, and for 17 years, Johnny Da Piedade, the host of the Big Cactus Country was on the scene, and always faithful to the his appointment prsenting all the artists of this mega event! I suggest to you a list of our favorite artists closest to our heart. Roving Seats opened the festivities. This excellent French group consisting of talented artists found its leader Manuel Julvez on guitar and vocals. The charismatic Geoffrey Chaurand was on guitar and harmonica along with Ange Amadei. As expected, the group Blue Highway Bluegrass captivated the public.

The songwriter and performer from Oregon, Jerry Kilgore is a specialist in Honky Tonk and he was a huge hit with fans of the genre. He superbly performed conventional songs such as the legendary George Jones hit “He Stopped Loving Her Today”. One of the discoveries in 2014, William Clark Green, is currently number 1 in the Texas Music Charts in the U.S. He offered a superb Americana tinged concert with rock roots and he was followed by another very nice surprise of talented musicians, including an amazing manic guitarist and member of the original group from Lubbock Texas, Hogg Maulies! What show! Another phenomenal success with the public.

Then it came time to applaud the great headlining the festival in 2014 with the very talented and friendly Darryl Worley. Darryl gave us a great show in all respects with his beautiful voice, in sunny Craponne giving you goosebumps! Darryl had two encores without restraint from the public. A huge success!

As usual, it’s a Cajun group that closed the festival. This year dynamic Sarah Savoy literally burned the stage with her show “Cajun Country” authentic and enraged. Sarah was accompanied by her musicians, but also in the presence of her family with her husband on guitar and vocals and her young daughter on the triangle. To complete the festival, all the artists are came on stage to interpret the inevitable “Jambalaya” by Hank Williams!

The weekend of the 4th, 5th and 6th July Team News Nashville returned to Tours for the occasion of the great American Tours Festival.

During these three days, many people attended because of the 100% American program and because of the very attractive price. There were really a large number of visitors!

Something for everyone whatever, fans rock’n’roll, Bikers, Cowboys Rodeo, or fans of good country music, thanks to the famous Canadian Country Music Night, held as every year by Mr. Franck Boucheraud!

For the fourth consecutive year The Big Cactus Country Radio Show was the official partner of the Canadian Country Music Night, so once again, Johnny Da Piedade was the facilitator who had the pleasure and the honor to present Adam Gregory and Jake Mathews.

I remind you that these two songwriters, musicians and performers, are both real stars Country to Canada and each has a different style, which brought some diversity and to the program as seen by Franck, the organizer, attracting a wider audience. But still, pure Country.

Adam Gregory Photo: Jean Claude Rizzo

The talented, young 28 year old, friendly Adam Gregory had the honor of opening the show. Adam gave an excellent performance, with a mix of pop and country music including (here and there) a touch of rock – such as the superb cover of a classic Bruce Springsteen song and another from the repertoire of Brian Adams,

Brian Adams

which immediately affected the audience of connoisseurs, and rightly so, because two of the musicians were also part of the group who recently accompanied the Bryan Adams tour … Adam Gregory, not forgetting his own compositions, often hits in Canada, and known in France, played to an audience responding positively.

In the second part, Jake Mathews offered a more traditional show to a different audience, this time consisting of mainly country purists and more knowledgeable fans. So we were treated to a beautiful collection of superb Country hymns, including some beautiful rearrangements of classic cowboy Alan Jackson or King George Strait not to mention Dwight Yoakam a real treat!

Jake Mathews Photo: Jean Claude Rizzo

Jake Mathews put the icing on the cake, and even graced us with a wealth of detail about his career in French. Side surprises – we were spoiled with the arrival on scene of the very young Raffi, a gifted pianist and singer only 12 years who came to sing “Let Your Love Flow” a hit of the Bellamy Brothers. It was a total success for Jake Mathews and a Country show which was very exciting for fans of the genre!

We note that the superb delivery of the little prodigy Raffi literally ignited the audience. And it was still young Raffi who had the privilege of accompanying on piano, with other French musicians, the highly awaited and legendary Wanda Jackson!

From her 76 years, Wanda brought us a very varied show, mixing country and her greatest rock’n’roll hits. A memorable concert punctuated again crispy and authentic stories between songs, but this time in VO! This is a great success for American Tours Festival and its organizers. All lovers of America and its music, whether or Country Rock’n’Roll parties are absolutely thrilled! Rendezvous is already for next year for the 2015 edition of the Canadian Country Music Night at the American Festival Tours.

The country pop trio Lady A, that is, Lady Antebellum, reappears this week on American country radio airwaves with a new single called “Bartender”

which is to be found on their fifth album coming soon! “Bartender” has nothing original and nothing country because suprisingly it brings the two previous singles “Downtown” and “Compass”! Lady A is confined more and more to a style that combines all the elements of music trends today, that is say tasteless pop, and the opposite of country music.
