Hello! My name is Alison. I’ve been passionate about country music since I was very young. I got to know music by following styles – rock, southern rock and the country music styles of today – and by cruising through the USA. I’ve also bought a lot of CDs! In recent years, I started broadcasting the “Les News de Nashville” on the Big Cactus Country presented by my friend Johnny Da Piedade. You can read my blog post on the Big Cactus Country site as well as here on the HorizonVU Music Blog and SHOP!

Big Cactus Country Radio Show!!! The best of American Country presented by Johnny Da Piedade and Alison Hebert! The BCC is a syndicated radio Show presented by Johnny Da Piedade and Alison Hebert broadcast weekly more than 250 times. The BCC network is 120 affiliated radio stations in France, Reunion Island, St-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Belgium, Switzerland, Quebec and more.

The weekend of the 4th, 5th and 6th July Team News Nashville returned to Tours for the occasion of the great American Tours Festival.

During these three days, many people attended because of the 100% American program and because of the very attractive price. There were really a large number of visitors!

Something for everyone whatever, fans rock’n’roll, Bikers, Cowboys Rodeo, or fans of good country music, thanks to the famous Canadian Country Music Night, held as every year by Mr. Franck Boucheraud!

For the fourth consecutive year The Big Cactus Country Radio Show was the official partner of the Canadian Country Music Night, so once again, Johnny Da Piedade was the facilitator who had the pleasure and the honor to present Adam Gregory and Jake Mathews.

I remind you that these two songwriters, musicians and performers, are both real stars Country to Canada and each has a different style, which brought some diversity and to the program as seen by Franck, the organizer, attracting a wider audience. But still, pure Country.

The talented, young 28 year old, friendly Adam Gregory had the honor of opening the show. Adam gave an excellent performance, with a mix of pop and country music including (here and there) a touch of rock – such as the superb cover of a classic Bruce Springsteen song and another from the repertoire of Brian Adams,

which immediately affected the audience of connoisseurs, and rightly so, because two of the musicians were also part of the group who recently accompanied the Bryan Adams tour … Adam Gregory, not forgetting his own compositions, often hits in Canada, and known in France, played to an audience responding positively.

In the second part, Jake Mathews offered a more traditional show to a different audience, this time consisting of mainly country purists and more knowledgeable fans. So we were treated to a beautiful collection of superb Country hymns, including some beautiful rearrangements of classic cowboy Alan Jackson or King George Strait not to mention Dwight Yoakam a real treat!

Jake Mathews put the icing on the cake, and even graced us with a wealth of detail about his career in French. Side surprises – we were spoiled with the arrival on scene of the very young Raffi, a gifted pianist and singer only 12 years who came to sing “Let Your Love Flow” a hit of the Bellamy Brothers. It was a total success for Jake Mathews and a Country show which was very exciting for fans of the genre!

We note that the superb delivery of the little prodigy Raffi literally ignited the audience. And it was still young Raffi who had the privilege of accompanying on piano, with other French musicians, the highly awaited and legendary Wanda Jackson!

From her 76 years, Wanda brought us a very varied show, mixing country and her greatest rock’n’roll hits. A memorable concert punctuated again crispy and authentic stories between songs, but this time in VO! This is a great success for American Tours Festival and its organizers. All lovers of America and its music, whether or Country Rock’n’Roll parties are absolutely thrilled! Rendezvous is already for next year for the 2015 edition of the Canadian Country Music Night at the American Festival Tours.

This week, News from Nashville remains in France and in Tours, presenting the great event that occurred from 5 to 7 July 2013. It was the American Festival Tours and its famous Canadian Country Music Night with exceptional artists recruited by Franck Boucheraud!

Franck Boucheraud

It is a festival that I highly recommend because there is something for everyone and every taste! There are shops – Western, Rock’n’Roll, or Biker – in all corners of the festival. There’s an Indian village, a rodeo, and a superb Custom Show worthy of the largest gatherings of Bikers USA. There’s even NASCAR for second consecutive year, in short, we did not know where to turn!

As its name suggests, the American Festival Tours is a huge American party. Two gigantic halls were devoted to U.S. music, including a special place for rock’n’roll where we had some nice surprises, including the discovery of Raffi very young age of only 11 years.

Raffi

Raffi

It is known to the French public for participating in the contest “France has an incredible talent,” broadcast on M6. Raffi did not win, but the program runs throughout France and Europe. Raffi gave a wonderful performance rock’n ‘roll good enough to give you goosebumps! He is young, but he does not lack professionalism, and most importantly, he is full of energy! Raffi sang songs from the repertoires of Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, Carl Perkins and other big names. I would like to tell you that all these titles were interpreted with perfect English! Other European groups performed throughout the day, and to close the festival, a star of rock ‘n’ roll French made a special trip, the highly anticipated Mr. Dick Rivers!

Next country music, some European groups and French performers such as Pierre Lory, UK Tony Burrows, the great Canadian quartet Foster Martin Band and many more!

Then it came time to attend the Canadian Country Music Night Saturday night planned on the big stage. Two great stars on the program – No. 1 in Canada today – Brett Kissel and Bobby Wills! Two excellent showmen! We were able to meet and conduct an interview.

Brett Kissel and Alison

Brett Kissel and Alison

Alison interviewed Brett and asked about his impressions of a large festival in France on the occasion of the Canadian Country Music Night at the American Festival Tours and how it felt to be almost No.1 Country on the charts at home in Canada?

Brett: First, I’m still not No. 1, Bobby Wills is No. 1! I must be No. 6 or 5! But I feel very happy to be here! I came with my wife and my group and we love it! We spent a few days in Paris, then in Tours and this festival ….

Brett Kissel

Brett Kissel

Alison: We have already spoken in the News from Nashville about your last song “Started With a Song”, which arrived en masse on the country radio airwaves in Canada, surpassing even the winners of the superstar Taylor Swift how do you explain that?

Brett: We have a very good team for promotion and marketing. They focused their work on my latest single and every country radio staion in Canada. 93% is added the song to their programming from the first 24 hours! We were very lucky to have such support! Humbly, I feel very honored!

Alison: Success is waiting for you, so you’re going to follow the same path as Bobby Wills?

Brett: Yes, of course you know my good friend Bobby Wills has achieved something that had not happened for a long time in the middle of country music in Canada. He has the respect of the industry, everyone loves his music including me, and that is why I am honored to share the stage with him …

Alison: So you’re going to be a competitor?

Brett: The only competition that may exist between us lies in the fact that I come from the city of Edmonton, which has the best ice hockey team from Calgary and Bobby and his epic hockey is not very good! There is no competition between us when it’s about music. We’re friends and I want to see him succeed and I know he also wants to see me succeed. We used to work with the same people, so there is no competition in music, as it is with sports!

Alison: Now that you’ve signed on a major label: Warner Music Canada, under the tutelage of former producer Garth Brooks, Bob Doyle, what are your plans?

Brett: When you sign a contract with a record company you should release an album as soon as possible, so the album should be released shortly after the ceremony of the Canadian Country Music Awards will take place in my beautiful hometown of Edmonton. Once the album is out, we will go on tour and I’m very excited to be able to be with Dwight Yoakam fot the tour of the western part of Canada covering 15-20 dates. It will be a great opportunity. And then there will be more videos to come on YouTube and on CMT, Country Music Television and other songs on the radio, this is just the beginning but we hope to continue a long career.

Alison: When will the album be available?

Brett: We have not decided the date, but it will be released somewhere between late September and early October …

Brett Kissell, 23 years is a real showman. Very good with the public, Brett made the effort to speak in French and the extremely large audience that evening was immediately hooked. According to Franck Boucheraud, the programmer of the now famous Canadian Country Music Night, the 2013 audience hit a record audience! The artistic choice is for many. The show was the young Brett Kissel and included some classic high-level Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Creedence, mixed with his own compositions all delivered live by great musicians and artist boosted. Another highlight was the good old Rock’n’Roll 50s sung with the young and very talented Raffi. He was only 11 years old but he is incredibly talented as a singer. Raffi came on stage at the request of Brett Kissel, who had been captivated by his show on the Rock’n’Roll scene American Festival Tours.

A great moment for the delight of the public. Brett Kissell impressed the festival and it all started with a song “Started with a Song”, the most broadcast song in Canada.

Alison will now be interested Bobby Wills, a stalwart of Country Music in Canada that collects Hits! How did you get the title No. 1 in Canada.

Alison and Bobby Wills

Alison and Bobby Wills

Bobby: 3 No. 1 titles. My first two singles were certified No. 1 and the latest single is also very exciting. I was very lucky to have so much support

Alison: Bobby, your style is very traditional country music. For the public in Canada, you’re some kind of Canadian George Strait ?

Bobby: Oh, that’s a huge compliment to me. It would be really cool, we’ve had the opportunity to differentiate ourselves with our very unique style. We are part of the list of those who have had success in Canada, and what will be good is to put Brett Kissel on this list. I am not kidding! We found a unique recipe, and I believe in music based on traditional country Music is what I do, and that’s what I’m going to do, and I hope it will keep me at the top.

Bobby Wills

Bobby Wills

Alison: What are projects in the near future?

Bobby Wills : After my single, (“If It Was That Easy”), our next single will arrive on radios and in 2014. We will put out a new album on which I’m currently working. I think that the first single will be on radio in January, 2014.

Alison: Bobby I’ll ask you the same question I asked earlier to Brett. What do you think of huge event in France – the American Festival Tours and the Canadian Country Music Night?

Bobby: We had a wonderful time. Like Brett, I came with my wife. We do not often have the opportunity to travel like that together. Often our USES time do not sync and then we have young children. This is complicated, so it is really great to have this break and to visit Paris, this is fantastic! We took the TGV down at 150 km / hr! And when we arrived at Tours, we enjoyed the people! People is what is most important to me, especially here in Tours. People are smiling, courteous, very nice! This is simply a fantastic experience for us.
