Rebecca Nobrega and “Rebecca’s Creations…” is a regular column for HorizonVU Music. Rebecca was born in Toronto, Ontario. Her interests include marketing, design, and of course, styling. This column is about an unsigned talented band called Shred Kelly. Shred Kelly is a group of friends who were brought together by good times. They are from the East Kootenay’s of British Columbia. Sprung from the town of Fernie, the five-member band is best known for mixing claw hammer banjo riffs with guitars, fierce drums, and hauntingly sweet harmonies. They are able to create such a sound that has been remembered as “Stoke Folk”. They sing songs about “powder days, tornado destruction, and a sincere distaste for work.” This band consists of four guys and one girl and is consistently looking to make music more interesting by putting in some originality! The Shred Kelly has toured throughout Canada, played BC, Alberta and Montana music festivals, had their music played on CBC radio, and opened for bands such as Elliott Brood, They plan on touring a lot more so make sure you guys stay tuned for listing to be apart of an incredible and memorable show! Just like they’re awesome composition of music and being an independent band, they too represent themselves in their own way revealing great character.

Let’s check out their vid…”Green Couch Session”!

Not only is their music very original so is their style. As seen in the given pictures, they have a signature look. They have an “Indie Hipster yet casual look.” Based on their music, whether the chords of an instrument or the words to their songs, their style and wardrobe represents what their band stands for. As a band, they want to be different and show to all the talent they have. The average people will follow bands or solo artists and know all about their music and their look. However, they find it difficult to manipulate a look. It is so simple to imply a given look and it can be done in an the shred kelly003affordable way! To achieve the look of this band is simple. All it takes are simple tees or tanks. Also play it up with some flannel button ups in different prints! Even skinny jeans and some great shoes! Perhaps add a personal touch whether it’s through adding an accessory or by colour change up. When you are picking pieces to put together, remember to add not only the look of a musician but what you’re own taste. Not only does dressing like someone make you like them, but its also about expressing yourself as an individual. Like the artist, their look, music and anything they do is based on personal desire. Never lose yourself. It is amazing to admire someone and their look, but always remember to be inspired of yourself! That is the most important key to achieving any indie artists look.

Be sure to check out listings to make a great show of Shred Kelly! Also check them out at

Kris Doty

Kris Doty

This week’s column zeros in on a very talented musician determined to show the world what she’s got. Her name is Kris Doty. There is not much on her biography, but like any artist, she is an aspiring figure in the music world. Her music is Indie and alternative. As an Indie artist, the talent she brings to her peers is none like no other. All original-unique. She expresses her total self from inner emotions to personal experiences.

Being an artist is a very powerful. It allows one to express themselves in the best way they know. They are able to share themselves with< others and for others to enjoy. With music, it is not about the end of the road. It can be said that the music industry consists of a series of events. A never ending road. Though one may become discovered and an international icon, it is not all about the money or the fame. Even fame is only a milestone. Music is about being you and releasing a different side of you. It is about sharing with others what life means whether it is through lyrics or the sound of a guitar. Like many musicians if not all, Kris Doty believes in the power of song writing and what it means to be independent, Just like a song that requires creativity, personal style defines their character as well.

Listening to her music, Kris is very talented and knows how to compose a piece of art. As seen in pictures, she is always dressed in such a way representing who she is and revealing her true character. She is dressed very laid back, whether it’s a simple tee or tank top. However, there’s a lot more to being casual. Kris chooses to dress up too and play up her style. She’s seen wearing cowboy boots, a-line skirts. She has a dressy-casual look.

She is an artist who dresses and has style in many ways. She is able to still perform her fabulous music no matter what outfit she wears. For an everyday person most people think that is not practical to imitate an artists look as they expect it to be very expensive. But! People need to consider that achieving a look is not about being identical. It is about adding your personal touch to the outfit, and do so in an affordable way. Yes that is very possible! All it takes is having an idea on how to dress and manipulating the look. You can even shop at all your favourite stores where the price suits you! Just like an artist who composes their own music and style, fashion and wardrobe is also a piece of art and individuality.

So remember! When you want a look that a celebrity has-it is very possible! Just because one may wear Gucci does not mean you have to be a copycat! Kris Doty is a very talented artist who has great taste. She is not pretending to be anyone but herself. She is a true independent artist. Please make sure to check her out!

Rebecca Nobrega and “Rebecca’s Creations…” is a regular column for HorizonVU Music. Rebecca was born in Toronto, Ontario. Her interests include marketing, design, and of course, styling. This week’s column is a contrast piece between two talented Indie musicians, Abbie Rhode and Adaline. Abbie was born

Abbie Rhode

Abbie Rhode

and raised in the extremely small town of Virginia City, Montana. She became very interested in music at a young age – she always told her parents how she dreamed to be a star. She began by writing songs when she was in the fifth grade and decided to take up guitar when she was thirteen. Abbie’s main influences are her family, loving friends and the Beatles. Being an indie musician takes much dedication and passion. Abbie demonstrates that through her will and love for music. She defines herself through the words of her music.

Adaline

Adaline

Adaline, on the other hand, expesses a very different experience growing up with music. From pulsing rock, to cabaret, to orchestral ballads, she creates meticulously crafted sound scapes where brass, strings, and vibraphone meet electric guitars and programmed percussion. Classical and pop sensibilities produce soundtracks that are both artistic and accessible.

Both of these musicians embody the characteristics of what it means to be independent, wholehearted and original. They believe in the power of song writing and what it means to entirely represent them. Just like a song taking creativity and input from one’s true character, their personal style makes for their individuality and careers as a musician.

From the pictures of both musicians, one is able to see their sense of style and who they are appearing as, as a person. Abbie carries herself with her curly locks and that can represent a laid back independent style. Adaline on the other hand is seen with many looks from different outfits to different hair styles. She is seen dressing both up and down. On stage, she stays casual with her tees versus dressing up with dresses and heels.

Achieving Adaline’s look is pretty simple. One can go to any store of their choice and find some simple cut shirts with any sleeve type. They can be a solid colour or have a desired print to them. Jackets can be good too. From leather, to a simple nice denim, it works with the look all according to what it is paired with. As far as bottoms go, skinny jeans, boot cut jeans or leggings work. The styles and colour will reflect on the shirt and jacket and what one thinks looks best and what they feel comfortable in. Also, simple dresses work really well with look as it can be dressed up or down by basic shoes and/or accessories. Shoes are very open ranges as well. Tall boots, to heels, to flats, it all works! Another great way to achieve this look is through accessories! One can wear something a little more bulkier to achieve a more loud look versus something more simple which still makes the look, but in a more simplistic way. So you see, anyones look can be recreated in a simple and affordable way. Anyone is able to achieve not only the look, but any musician’s look at an affordable price. It is about strategies and creativity. It does not mean buying the exact article of clothing, rather manipulate and find something similar that fits both the look and your own personal style. Abbie and Adaline are creative  - showing passion with their music. Be sure to visit them at:

This week’s article is about a very talented musician who goes by the name of Tawnie Lucas. There is not much about her bio released. Music is

Tawnie Lucas

Tawnie Lucas

a passion. For true musicians, music is a way of life – it is what keeps them going. Tawnie is an inspiring artist waiting to get herself known worldwide.  She is  an indie musician.  Some might argue that being indie is the is the best  way to tag yourself because you can be whoever and bring to the table whatever you want. At first,  all artists  are indie and it is through  their independence and their indie work that they demonstrate who they really are and the true talent they have. Like Tawnie’s creative and personal approach to her music lines up with her wardrobe. What a musician wears signals who they are and what their personality. Through her music and choice of attire, she can express herself like no other. Check out Tawnie’s sound and style…her latest video “Sapphire”!

Tawnie has a great sense of style. Like her voice, her overall style is definitely up to par. As seen in the pictures, Tawnie is more of a light hipster meets edgy dresser. From graphic tees to skinny jeans, to plaid shirts…she is able to rock  and give it her all. This overall look is very common and you might have seen it on other people, but no matter what there will always be a part of that person’s individuality in it to make it different and unique.

Along with her clothes, one thing Tawnie always keeps handy is her guitar.  You can replicate this look – make it your own; add some personal style to it. Make yourself unique and the eye catcher. Many stores will carry this type of clothing. One can get any kind of graphic t-shirts or plaid shirts. Even v neck shirts fall under this category of dressing. Perhaps even an oversized black see through blouse or an oversized sweater shirt. As far as jackets go, leather jackets are 100% acceptable. They complete this look and add that final touch of edginess. Jackets with collars and button ups also work. It really depends on personal preference and what jumps out at you. Now for bottoms…anything will work! From a black skirt with ripped panty hose and nice combat boots to skinny jeans and converse to leggings and leather boots…there is so much variety! No matter what, it is hard to make an outfit look bad. Have fun when you are putting it together because that is what matters. Tawnie is seen in several outfits and she dresses to how she likes. Anyone who wants her style can do it, especially since it is very affordable as well. It is absurd to buy high ticked items just because it is brand name. Of course sometimes it is ok for some items, but buying things at an affordable price and still looking great sounds so much more rewarding and worth your money. Also, what you choose to purchase does not need to be exactly what Tawnie wears, just by trying to “tweak” her style you can make it unique. Have fun, and remember, Tawnie is about her individualism and  you are too!

Rebecca Nobrega and “Rebecca’s Creations…” is a regular column for HorizonVU Music. Rebecca was born  in Toronto, Ontario. Her interests include marketing, design, and of course, styling.  She keeps a close listen and watch on the  Indie music and fashion scene . She loves working and always strives for success.

Hannah Judson is a musician who has not been sitting still. She has travelled widely, and has worked with a range of musicians, from classical, folk, punk and grunge. Like her music, her style  draws on multiple influences. She is relaxed, calm and projects intellect, creativity, and openness one might associate with New England artists. Her original style  reflects her personality – right on target.  She is always providing her fans and listeners with something new and creative.

The themes of her songs are eclectic and are inspired by conversations, events in the news, or a book she is reading. She says, “The songwriting process is very similar to painting with oil paints. Oil is a sturdy, flexible medium, you can modal forms smoothly hiding the brushstrokes, or dig into it with a knife. You paint over mistakes leaving just a hint that you were ever there. And the mistakes turn out to be the freshest part. My songs are not music therapy, or specifically autobiographical. I reference things I know, people who populate my world, all the time, but the subject is not you and me literally. My songs tend to be little fictions.”

Just this year she released an album “Underbelly” produced by Michel Esquelin. This album presents a few different characters and perspectives, old, young some male. These songs were written in France where she currently lives, but many are influenced by her former life in the US. Right now, she is currently working on a project, “Leggy”,  and is coming more from experience, observations and events in France. Leggy is scheduled for release in 2012.  Hannah has a great number of fans and listeners. Those who attend her shows and listen to her music she describes as “good listeners, with a little edge.” Let’s take a look at Hannah live, performing “Ishmael”.

Hannah comes from a family where music always played a part.  Her grandfather was a tenor in a Boston choir. When the choir toured Europe, he met his soon to be wife on the steamship. She was a piano teacher. Between the two of them, “Music was the hook”. Hannah’s father was also a great influence, as he made a harpsichord and a lute, played medieval and Baroque music, and sang arias around the house. Just as important, her mother had a great record collection: The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, etc. Hannah played the violin and her father’s old clarinet, which she played throughout high school. In high school and college she took harpsichord and piano lessons. Some of her major influences as a musicians were people like Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Liz Phair, Laurie Anderson, Cat Power and Velvet Underground.

Travel has always been important to Hannah.  In Vienna she “wrote her earliest songs, painted, learned German, drank coffee, and smoked, inhaling deeply.” She worked her way through Morocco, hitchhiked north through Spain, and ended up on her feet in Holland. There she had an epiphany in the Van Gogh museum that it was time to get serious. She moved to Boston and got a job with a book publishing company. After about 18 months working in a cubicle, she had another epiphany, and headed back to Europe, this time  to San Sebastian, Spain. There she got a classical guitar studied Spanish classical guitar with a Basque teacher, danced in bars, and continued writing her own music.

The next stop after Spain was Chicago where she went to graduate school at the  School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She bought her first electric guitar, an amp, and put together her first band, Salt Lick. “With Salt Lick I began playing out. Chicago was great for that as there are so many venues to play their music”, says Hannah. After Salt Lick, she played bass in a folk/rock band, The Bloomers. She was in an acapella act, The Blowpops, and then Sweet Bridget an alt/rock band, with strong musicianship and personalities.

After Sweet Bridget came her last band Kite Club, a trio, with electro/ punk songwriter Brian Burkhard and Leslie Santos, the drummer from Sweet Bridget. They made 2 records, releasing one of them before she moved to France in 2005. She started playing in Paris in 2009. Hannah has been working with several musicians including Michel Esquelin and Serge Bencissou, performing her  her original music  at numerous venues including a 16 week concert series  at Les Décharguers in Paris.

On September 14th, 2011 I had the opportunity to visit with  Shawnee, lead singer from the emerging Canadian Band, “She King.” She was only

Shawnee SheKing

Shawnee SheKing

five years old when she discovered she could sing. She would dance around on picnic tables and have fun because she loved entertaining people and making them laugh. Shawnee not only knew how to sing, but she took her dad’s guitar and realized her natural ability to play and write music. Growing up she found that she was growing as a writer and her putting words down on paper became easier. Along the way her major influence was Melissa Etheridge.  Her mom first introduced her to Etheridge’s music.

I  asked her about what it was like performing and the ups and downs. With anything that anyone does there will always be some downs. But for Shawnee, the ups are being able to write and have people relate to her music. To her that’s what is most important and that overcomes any downs. When Shawnee was younger, she was a Shania Twain impersonator. She would sing all of her songs and she was sure she was going to become a country singer until she was 17.  After that, she started to branch out to different genres of music like rock, pop and more. And that is was She King is about as well. She King’s music ranges across many styles of music and it will still continue to evolve. Through her music she has an important message that she wants to send. It was just this year, she said, when she truly realized it. To her, it doesn’t matter if she becomes huge or touring Canada for the rest of her life. The only thing that matters is being yourself and doing what you love. It’s by remembering who she is and why she chooses music that keeps her motivated and makes her happy. I want to let you in on a great vid…This One’s For You (Shawnee Unplugged)…

With music comes creativity and branching off to different styles. That is how she would describe her look as well. It changes and she gets to be anything she wants to be. Her style is her personality as she acts on her individualism and is no one but herself. She has a very feminine side where she loves to dress up. From wearing dresses to her “insane show collection” to her nity gritty masculine side. She pulls off both looks like no other because for her, it’s effortless and that is all as a result to her confidence of being herself.

Right now, She King is focused on finishing their album. They are currently working with Allen Frew, lead singer of the Canadian band Glass Tiger. She King is still exploring different sounds,  they want it their sound to be real, they want it to be “them”. Looking forward, their goal for the future is to perform for an arena of people but even if that does not happen, she will never give up. She is a determined artist who strives for success and will always keep going. She will keep writing and singing for people. She told me that no matter what, f whether she becomes very famous or not, she will always share her passion for singing and performing.  She King will continue to evolve and take n new looks and sounds. For Shawness, a band is about a relationship – sometimes disagreements happen –  but at the end of the day, and when all is said and done and the decision is made, it is all completely worth it. Shawnee  is a business woman as well as an artist. The band and music is her business and whether it is her manager or bandmates, she wants others to be involved. She has her artistic side and she wants people and fans to follow the music, but  there’s her business side and she knows that the job has to get done.

She King recently went on tour in Halifax and Windsor. Performing she says is phenomenal and there aren’t any words to describe it. She becomes  like a whole new Shawnee when she is on stage. It is like nothing else matters, no one can break her. The show is about chaos and thrill. She is a true born entertainer who truly only wants to express her love and passion for music. Even if all she did was play an acoustic guitar and sang for 5 people and all those people like it, that would be good enough for her. An important message that Shawnee wants to make  -  just be you. For her, she feels that if it wasn’t for that, she would not be where she is today. With anything you do, there is always going to be somewhere telling you that you are not good enough or no, try this and that shouldn’t matter. What matters is knowing what you have to offer is good enough regardless what others have to say. She tries to encourage that it doesn’t matter what people say, but what you do and it is your confidence and the belief in yourself that allows one to succeed.

Shawnee is nothing short of very, very cool! From her look to her personality, I enjoyed every minute of the interview. Shawnee is a genuine and outgoing person. I definitely look forward to interviewing her again in the future.

This week’s contrast piece is focused on Laura Marling and Indie musician Allie Moss. Laura Marling is singer-songwriter from Eversley,

Laura Marlind

Laura Marling

Hampshire. She rose to fame through the London folk scene and later found prominence as a solo artist. Marling has toured with a number of well-recognized indie bands and her own work is acknowledged for her bold melodies and poetic lyrics. In 2007, Laura Marling appeared on ‘Suspicious Eyes’ by The Rakes, a track from their album Ten New Messages, after their singer Alan Donohoe discovered her on MySpace. She went on to collaborate with Mystery Jets on their single ‘Young Love’. Laura Marling’s second album, I Speak Because I Can

Allie Moss

Allie Moss

was released in 2010 and was produced by Ethan Jones. The debut single released from the album was ‘Goodbye England (Covered In Snow)’. Also, just this year at the Brit Awards, she finally won British female solo artist. She is definitely an artist that a lot of people can look up to.  Allie Moss on the other hand is an unsigned artist who is slowly building her ladder of success. She regularly performs as lead guitarist for singer/songwriter and friend Ingrid Michaelson. While not performing on Ingrid’s 2010 European tour, Allie returned to the fold during the summer of 2010 for a State-side tour.

Listen in to Laura  preforming her second track ‘Goodbye England’ on Later With Jools Holland.

Allie is known in the UK for her song Corner which has been used for a television commercial for BT Infinity. The single reached number 70 in the UK. Given the above, it I evident that both of these artists are so different yet very similar talented artists. Here’s the vid….

Like music, sense of style and how one chooses to carry their look out is a form of expression. Each of these artists has a similar yet different style. This is so because they both dress to represent themselves and are able to add themselves in their look. Based on pictures, Laura Marling has more of a laid back/edgy style. Allie on the other hand is settle and soft. For Laura, a loose solid colour tops whether they are tanks or long sleeves. That allows for both a laid back and edgy look. Also, oversized stylish sweaters and cardigans will allow achieving a look like hers. For Allie, tank tops of any neckline and colour/print are very nice and can be warn either alone or paired with a nicely cut jacket or cardigan. For Laura, leather jackets and edgierlooking trench coats really accent the outfit. Cut and style are very important and something to consider because they can either bring out ones features in a positive or in a negative way. The jackets and shirts are not all to an outfit. The bottoms are a huge factor as well. For both artists, jeans can be worn. Laura would be seen more in skinny jeans where Allie would be seen in bothdepending on the rest of her outfit. Leggings are definitely a piece that can be worn by not only them but anyone because they are very simple and versatile for any outfit and any season. On that note, even though an outfit is made of those components, accessories and footwear are what tie all the pieces together and they provide a nice touch. Long and simple necklaces are very nice, along with a simple ring and earrings. Now, when it comes to footwear, they both can wear similar styles. Tall boots whether they are leather or not can be paired with an outfit. They can be black grey or tan. Those three colours are neutral and will go with anything. A simple flat can be worn as well. An outfit is made up of many factors and even though it may seem complicated or expensive, it is really not. Anyone can achieve not only these two artists looks but any with an inexpensive budget.

Both Laura and Allie are very talented artists that not only have phenomenal music but great style! Be sure to visit Laura at http://www.lauramarling.com and Allie at http://alliemoss.com/home

Christine Ohlman

Christine Ohlman

This week’s piece contrasts the Americana/Blues musician Christine Ohlman and Folk Rock/Pop musician Katrin.

Katrin

Katrin

Christine is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and a recording artist. She is from the Bronx in New York City and her nickname is, “The Beehive Queen” which refers to her distinctive hairstyle. She leads the band Christine Ohlman and Rebel Montez consisting of Michael Colbath Larry Donahue, Cliff Goodwin, and founding member, guitarist Eric Fletcher. With him, she has recorded six albums. Also, she is the long-running vocalist for the Saturday Night Live Band.  Katrin is from Boston, USA. She is a singer, guitarist and a song writer who captures the attention of her audience through her provocative lyrics. She has evolved from that humble start to winning National songwriting awards including “The Mountain Stage Newsong Festival” and “Solarfest” in VT.  She tours Europe often, where she recently as to support of her newest release “Soul Wide Open”.

Not only are the words an artists chooses to put in a song or the beat and sound of their guitar that express who they are, but so does their sense of style. Christine is Americana meets blues where Katrin is folk rock meets pop. As seen in the pictures, one can really have a feel for each of the artist’s choice of attire and how they chose to present themselves. Just like any person, these artists dress to their personal liking and it provides  one way to express their individualism. These looks carry  contrast and give a person different styles and views about the mechanics of fashion. Many people are inspired by other peoples look and want to adopt it, though finances can be an issue. What one needs to realize is that the clothing you buy does not need to be identical, rather similar and to that style. Also, it should definitely represent apart of ones self. As a result, with the patience to look and an open mind, anyone can achieve any look successfully and in an affordable way.

Christine Ohlman has more of a brighter and loud look. Katrin is more soft and quiet. In Christine’s pictures, she is seen wearing bright and lively colours. An outfit consists of many pieces and through each piece does it allow for a particular look. She is seen wearing a lot of button up collard shirts. They are comfortable and very trendy! With this style, it is about experimenting with lots of colour and print. From bright yellow to leopard print, it all works! Also, with prints or even the solid colours, try using texture such as a fabric with depth or natural crimp. Think of this outfit as an old vintage being incorporated. With the pants and jackets, just by thinking of that one will be able to find anything and that will definitely add for completing different looks. A definite trade mark of hers is her accessories. From simple to chunky jewellery – pick what ever you’re in for and rock it! Two things that cannot be forgotten to fulfill her  look are the sun glasses and of course her groovy hair style! Get a simple pair of black shades and tease, tease, tease your hair! And by doing the above, any one is able to achieve the Americana look that Christine Ohlman possesses. Katrin on the other hand is much different. Her style consists of a natural colour scheme and perhaps closer to pastel colours. From tanks to tee-shirts or even long sleeved, anything along neutral colours will provide this look. One could even chose to wear a country print! As far as bottoms go, any type such as jeans, skirts or shorts can be worn. A boot cut pair of jeans would probably be best inperhaps a wash jean. Next comes the jackets! Jean jackets are definite! But even leather one will work.  A simple brown leather jacket will add an endgier look where jean will give it more of a country look. Now, even though this makes an outfit, accessories and footwear are very important as well. Belts and scarves add a nice touch. The jewellery that Katrin is seen wearing is more simple chunky meets bulky and it completes an outfit! The footwear can be anything really. Leather boots or a simple flat work depending on the rest of the outfit.  Given the above, it is evident that these two artists are very different in terms of their style. Remember that if you want more of a brighter statement, go for Christine’s look. But if you want something more quiet, stick with Katrin’s style. Each of the artist’s style represents a part of them selves and makes a powerful statement. One thing to never forget is that anyone can achieve this look on a budget and to just have fun with it. Add a part of yourself to it because – no one can rock you better then you!

Amy Speace

Amy Speace

This week’s piece contrasts the Folk/Indie musician Amy Speace  and Indie

Emily Zuzik

Emily Zuzik

rock musician Emily Zuzik. Emily is a singer and songwriter, rocker and collaborator signed by Maenades Music. Her wide-ranging career has allowed her to grow from acoustic folk to alternative rock. Some of her songs have appeared in the CW show Smallville and the Indie film Fifth Form. Emily will be releasing her seventh studio album, “The Wild Joys of Living”, this summer.  Amy Speace  is an observational singer-songwriter. Her current album is called, “Land like a Bird” and she wrote this “in love in love and for love and broken by love and moved to the highest heights and the lowest lows, but, always with my eyes and heart trained toward the gleam of light on the topside of the shadow.” Like each of these artists different style of music, they both have there own “look.”

Being Indie means to be Independent and separate you from everyone. It is about incorporating yourself and no one can does that better then you, of course. It is about self expression and originality. Sometimes that is what allows the artist to connect themselves with their music. They are not pretending to be anyone else and no one else matters. The best kind of music is the music that’s real and true to an artist. With both Amy’s and Emily’s look, they are so similar, yet very different. Amy is more of a soft hipster – Indie meets nature and Emily has  more of an edgy hipster Indie look. There are a lot of people out there who look up to these artists and would like to manipulate their look. The only problem many people will face are the expenses, but what people do not stop to think about is that it can be done in an affordable way. The best way to replicate a look is to obviously dress how that desired artist would, but to also add your own twist and personality into it.

Amy Speace is a softer musician where Emily is edgier. That reflects  their style. As can be seen in the photos, one is able to get an idea of how they chose to dress and what perhaps differentiates them from other artists and from each other. Amy is more casual very simple and clean cut and Emily is also clean cut, but more hipster. As anyone knows, an outfit consists of many components such as the tops, bottoms, foot wear and accessories. Following Amy’s style, one should go simpler perhaps  wearing nice scoop neck tops with small embellishments or a simple button down. Also, either fitted or baggier tops work. Emily on the other hand, could also wear fitted or baggier tops, but would go for a different approach wearing tops with prints on them with some colour or shirts with zipper type embellishments.

Jackets are also a big part to any outfit. Amy would wear a simpler jacket made out of perhaps sued or a dark brown simple cut leather jacket, whereas Emily would wear denim or have a variety of leather jackets. After all, style and colour can allow for different effects to an outfit. Next are bottoms! Leggings are a piece that can both by both of these artists as they are very versatile and go with a lot of things. Emily would be seen wearing more skinny jeans in perhaps a grey wash or just a darker colour and that gives more of an edgier look. Amy would wear either boot cut or skinny, but simpler looking jeans. Dresses are also very good for both looks. They are very versatile and accessorized properly can fit any type of look that not only these artists have but any. Now for some of the final touches to an outfit! The foot wear and the accessories! Any artists should have a generous and fair amount of both these things as they really make and complete an outfit. Both Amy and Emily could wear leather boots of different style and colour, though Emily would probably stick to more buckle type boots. Even a flat shoe fits both looks as there are so many styles that can work with different outfits. Now, the accessories are definitely an item to have fun with. Amy would be seen more with a simple piece or if she wants to go more bold, a bigger and chunkier piece of costume jewellery. Emily though, would probably stick to simpler pendants. One of her known pieces of accessories is her scarves. They can be worn all year round. Given the above,  there are many ways to accomplish different looks and all of these items can be bought in local stores and they do not have to be designer. After all, no one can see the label that is inside the short or pair of pants. So remember when shopping  have fun and be brave. Try new things and create something unique for yourself!

Ann'so M

Annso Annsom, also known as Ann’so M. is an extremely talented pop rock musician who lives for music. She is a author-songwriter born on
December 25th in Calvados. She started her career as young as 15 where she first connected herself to recording in the studio. Her first album, “Eponyme” was released in November 2006. She also studied at the music conservatory, where to this day she now work teaching both dance and music. Her music career first began where she toured Europe and became stardom to the public. Her fame will only grow from here, and as long as she remains determined and devoted to her music, she will become more and more successful.

The Pop/Rock style of music is very common among many artists. Despite how others may play this genre as well, Ann’so is able to make it her own by incorporating her own individualism and character into it. Pop-rock music usually means anything that’s popular & rock of course is rock & roll. Not only can this and any other genre of music be made different from another person, but the style is also very much different. Every artists is able to add their own personal touch adding some interest to their outfit. That is what Ann’so is able to do and completely rocks every look!

In achieving any look, many people, including new artists may be concerned about  the cost.  You can attain the Pop/Rock look like Ann’so, without expensive clothing.  All it takes is going to the store and seeing what works by manipulating your desired style. The Pop/Rock look is all about edginess, as demonstrated by Ann’so herself. Be creative with this look and you’ll rock it. For starters, the shirts can vary to many styles. From loose to fitted shirts or tanks. It all goes. Perhaps even try corseted shirts like like Ann’so has. They fit the look very well and add a sort of sexiness as well. For bottoms- skinnies! Skinnies! Skinnies! They are a piece that any pop/rocker should own many pairs of! They signify this look in so many ways! They are trendy and the different textures and fabrics add different feels to the outfit as well. Okay, let’s take time out and ROCK…Ann’so M  ”Je ne veux pas etre celle”!

Now, when it comes to the shoes or jackets, I say definitely be drawn toward leather! It doesn’t even have to be real, as sometimes real leather jackets can be quite costly. But leather also works and still lasts. It’s many styles and colour can really accent an outfit and many are very versatile throughout the year. Another piece that happens to really work well with this look are blazers! Shoes are also very important in an outfit. From tall leather boots to booties or a leather flat! Anything works depending on what you chose to wear them with. A key component to an outfit are the accessories. The pop/rock look can go two ways. One can choose to wear much bulkier and bolder pieces, or can go simpler. It all depends on whether or not they want to be bold or much more subtle. So overall, remember to add your own flavor to the outfit and wear it with pride because no one can wear your style better then you can!
