What’s The Buzz ?

“Resilience trumps regret… on Amy Speace‘s “That Kind of Girl” (Windbone), an album of post-breakup songs and other heartaches depicted with the succinctness of country tradition. Ms. Speace made the album in three days of sessions in Nashville, recording live in the studio with a small band, and the music is unadorned but finely considered. It dips into blues, honky-tonk and gospel along with hymnlike piano ballads. Even when Ms. Speace is sad or bitter, her voice maintains its aplomb; as she spells out what has happened, she prizes grace over drama.”

Hi all!
Thank you SOOOO much to each and every one of you pledging toward my KICKSTARTER. Last week we surpassed my minimum goal of $25,000. There are still THREE DAYS left to try to raise as much as I can. Right now, the money raised will pay for the record itself and the publicity. I still need more in order to create the rest of the vision — short films inspired by the songs to be used in publicity and, as well, in the live show, original art for each of the songs that, hopefully, we’ll turn into a book with the lyrics, and all the other necessary business expenses of putting out a record. If you have ever bought a record of mine, please consider at the very least pre-ordering a record by October 4th. I really appreciate it!

Hi y’all (she says, practicing her red dirt drawl)
Can you be so kind as to send your friends my way in the next few days. I’m very excited about these shows. Cut/paste/facebook/tweet whatever you do. Smoke signals. Shouting from rooftops. All of it! I’m driving from Nashville to Tulsa, listening to John Prine and Townes Van Zandt, John Fullbright and Robert Ellis, Kanye West and Stevie Wonder. My van is packed and clean for Hill Country Dust and I’m looking forward to Migas for breakfast, clear Texas skies, and good friends. Come on down!
