What’s The Buzz ?

Yep, it’s that time of year when I convince a few friends to get in a van together and tour for a few weeks singing songs of joyful things and glad tidings and fa la la la la, new holiday songs, old holiday songs and some completely not all holiday songs (you know, like uplifting southern gothic murder ballads). For the 3rd year in a row, I bring you Wild Ponies, Rod Picott and me, in a holiday extravaganza. All dates are listed at my TourPage or at the Decembersongs FACEBOOK page.

I’m doing one show on my own this month as a kick off to the holidays at my fave local East Nashville joint, The Family Wash, next week on December 2nd @ 9pm w/ Wild Ponies. Come on down if you’re local. And if you’re local, you know where it is…

I’ve got your stocking stuffers…
No. Seriously, I do. Check out my Store Page for holiday specials of all sorts. I’m offering a HOLIDAY BOX SET OF CD’S this season for $60. That’s Songs For Bright Street (2006), Killer In Me (2009), Land Like A Bird (2011), How To Sleep In A Stormy Boat (2013) and That Kind Of Girl (2015) plus I’ll throw in a Secret Santa CD, something that I don’t sell online, that is out of print. Either my first CD or the Judy Collins Tribute or another surprise. That’s 6 CD’s for only $60 (plus Shipping/handling) gift wrapped for you. Also, there are LPs, T Shirts, and Screen Printed Posters and much more. Come visit my STORE and shop for all your Indy music needs….

Lastly, my Fall Songwriter’s Retreat was so successful we’re going to be doing another very soon. Now called SONGS FROM THE WELL WRITER’S RETREATS, we’ll announce dates soon.

Thank you all for being part of this ride with me. I’ve been at this now since 2001. My first full tour was October 2001, in the wake of the prior month, I made a leap of faith and this life has sustained me for 14 years now. I started out making my own records. I’ve been signed to record labels, I’ve left record labels. Now I’m back to making my own records. I couldn’t do this without you. I mean that. I write these emails. I write my own Twitter posts, my own Facebook posts. When you buy a CD from me through my store, I personally put it in it’s mailer and handwrite your address and ship it from a post office that’s less than a mile away. You may even get dog hair in there. If you’re lucky. This is and has always been a small business. Small as in one woman business. And I am grateful to each one of you who are reading to the end.

So, have a wonderful holiday season…

Your fan,

Creative Advice from Clare Bowditch

This is a really earthy, warm insight about creativity from
Australian songwriter, Clare Bowditch. Click image to watch!
This video is esecially important if you struggle with finding
your ‘muse’, your creativity, your true self. I love the way
Clare closes this TED talk by saying ‘life is short, for heaven’s
sake, make the most of it!’

Here is a picture of me back in 2009 with Big Al and the
beautiful musician:Omer Makesa.

Big Al was a dear friend. A soul brother, my producer on my first
two releases, bass player and more! Al was an absolute
inspiration for me, for my music, and he touched my heart
forever. It’s nearlly three years since Al passed away and I
think of him often. I am so thankful that I was given the
opportunity to work with someone so gifted and talented and so in
it for the heart. Making a career in the music industry isn’t the
easiest thing in the world, and like most of us, Al did music for
the love of it.

So here’s to doing things for the ‘Love of it!’

What’s The Buzz ?

Hello all and Happy February, month of my birth, month of my mother’s birth, month of groundhogs and slush, Days of Valentine and sappy love poems, and a big ole leaping at the end of the month this time around….

I’m leaving on a jet plane tomorrow morning and my dog, June, is whining (she can tell), so I’ll make this brief. I’m touring most of this month with JUDY COLLINS, a few shows of my own, a whole lot of criss-crossing the plains. I’d love to see you, so come on out to a show.
